Welcome to the Intro2Tech class website! This course serves the multiple groups of people:

Information Communication Technology, or ICT, is a very broad field and one of the leading growth areas for jobs according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Right now, 1 out of every 20 jobs in the USA is in the ICT business sector. Network systems analysts, data communication analysts, and computer software engineers are in very high demand and will continue to be for the next 10 years, especially with President Obama's goal for 98% of Americans to have access to high speed internet.

This course will:
  1. explore various information communication technologies, ICT
  2. explore current trends and events in technology
  3. explore a variety of career opportunities in ICT
  4. explore business skills needed to be successful in today's workforce
Here you'll find resources and assignments for all units and their corresponding projects in this course.

Earn College Credit

This is a dual-enrollment course with Ohlone College's CNET101 "Introduction to Information Communication Technology".

By filling out the application, you can earn 3 college units FOR FREE. I am both an Irvington and an Ohlone instructor, which means you will receive credit both on your high school transcript and on an Ohlone transcript (and the best part is, you NEVER have to go to Ohlone and it's FREE)

In order to expedite the registration process, please have this packet completed by the 2nd day of the semester for full credit. Applications will be accepted for reduced credit throughout the 2nd week of the semester. Failure to turn in this application by the end of the 2nd week will result in being dropped from the course.

The entire packet, stapled and in order, should consist of 4 documents:

#1 CCCapply.org confirmation page (make an account and go throught the 11 step questionaire, answering to the best of your ability)

#2 Ohlone College Application

#3 K-9th Grade Exceptional Student Form

#4 Parent/Guardian Authorization Form for Minors (aka Health Waiver)

>>>>>>> Documents 2-4 are available in the "college credit" folder. <<<<<<<

#1 Notes

Go to website, click apply, continue, new user, make sure you enroll for "Ohlone Community College" and when you get to the end there will be a confirmation code - print that page! You should receive an Ohlone Student ID via email within a few days. **
NOTE: if you have already previously taken an Ohlone class, ignore this step as you already have a student ID number

Once you've completed this application online, you will receive an email with subject "Ohlone College: K-12 Students with Incomplete Application" that looks something like this (click to enlarge):

This email is NORMAL and means 1 or 2 things: I need to physically turn in your paper-based application to Ohlone, and you may need to provide proof of residency information to Ohlone.

#2 Notes

For #12 Intended Academic Program, write "ND.K12"
For #18, if you are taking another Ohlone course (like a foreign language), you may go over 7 units and there's another form to approve this (see me if this is the case)

According to K-9 Special Students Application Information , "K-12 students are exempt from paying the California Community College Enrollment Fee ($20 per unit), but are subject to a $16 Health Services Fee ($12 during Summer Term), a $5 Online Registration Access Fee, and a $5 ($2.50 Summer) optional Student Activities Fee, unless all classes are off-campus." This means you *may* receive a charge of $5 or $21, but this has never been enforced in previous semesters.
